can anyone help my 996 bp runs fine untill i get to 6000 rpm to7500rpm aprox ,in third gear and above can be very aggresive at times .useing 54mm silmoto 1/2 system and sil race chip .. fitted a power commander 3 and dyno and still same .had it on dyno again last week and no matter which map was used the splutter was still there at 6000rpm .ive disconected the pc3 till i can find the fault any suggestions please
Assuming you've checked all the obvious things, the first thing I'd do as it's real easy is take out the Sil chip and replace with the original Ducati chip. Not exactly uncommon to find that aftermarket chips have faults. Original Ducati ones are reckoned to be the most reliable. If you're running a PC3 then the chip you run is irrelevant anyway as the PC3 will be taking care of the fueling.
if its fueling i dont think its the chip only cause the faults the same with the pc3 on or off.im hopeing someones fixed a fault with these symptomes of only happening @ certain rpm my local dealer was no help they have no ducati expert although they sell them thats why ive turned to your web site as theres nowhere ive seen as much duke nowledge ..PS excuse the deley in reply as im new to this
I'm no expert but I had the same spluttering going on at about 5800-6000 rpm. If it's always at the same rev range it could be the throttle position sensor (TPS). This is basically just a potentiometer that tells the ECU how far the throttle is open, if the tracks are cracked or dirty, you would get these symptoms (although you're looking at a replacement TPS cos you can't really repair them)
Neil at Cornerspeed sorted mine out for me. Give him a call or ping him a U2U.
Co is @ 5% throttle bodys were balanced by dealer , spoke to neil @ cornerspeed gave me some advise on the TPS. it just baffles me why only @6000rpm???
