Top Yoke clearance

Just had my bike repaired on the insurance and the top yoke was replaced. Before the off I thought there was a gap between top yoke and the tubes welded to frame for steering damper.

As it landed on the right side, I thought the left bump stop on the bottom yoke was damaged meaning the bottom yoke should also be replaced.

The pic below shows how the yoke is still hitting the frame is this right? I remeber there being about 4-5mm clearence before.

That doesn't look right at all. I've just tried one in the workshop and no matter how hard it's locked over, it won't hit the damper mount.
The steering stop doesn't look bad though.
Has the steerer tube been checked to see if it's straight?

Hi Lee, the top yoke should not hit the steering damper mount.

Mine did this at new and the solution was a new top yoke as ducati suspected mine had been machined out of line.

This also had the effect of making the damper rub on my tank!

Take it back mate and tell them it is not right.

John Tailforth at Ducati Uk instructed them to change the top yoke on mine so he must have seen this before. If you get no joy i would ring ducati uk and ask for him.

Hope you get sorted mate

I thought thats the case Nelly, it shouldn't touch at all.

By the steerer tube do you mean the headstock, the tube between the bearings that moves when you change the head angle?

It was done by an authorised dealer so would have thought they would not have missed this?

Thanks for your relpy Nelly.

Sorry mate no.

He was the after sales engineer for the manchester area at one time but i think he has since been promoted.

Try ducati uk on 0845 1222996, you can ask for bobie but anyone there should be able to give you john's number.

Think the man you are talking about left Ducati in the midle of last year to work for Harley Davidson?

We met him at the NEC last year after seeing him at a few Ducati events over the last few years but he was poached to HD/Buell I believe.

Its still wrong mate.
Take it to a different ducati dealer to be checked but dont mention its just been repaired by a Ducati dealer

Good luck dude.
