How much fuel?

Hi

I am about to buy an ST4s, how much will it cost to fill the tank up? I will be doing approx 80 miles per day commuting - how many times will I need to fill the tank per week (400 miles per week) if I am riding reasonably sensibly....

Can the bike handle the mileage.. mmmmm.....

Thanks in advance!

Depends how hard on the gas you are, but, you should get 140/150 miles before reserve and then up to another 60 miles on reserve. I get 45mpg running around and over 50 mpg on a long (touring) run. By the way I am not noted for my light throttle hand and 'tour' at 110!

I'd agree with Johns fuel consumption figure from my experience, therefore you need to fill up after every 2 days to be safe.

Will the bike handle it, mine did just under 20,000 miles and Johns is well over that figure now without and major problems.

Ducati's do need looking after properly by someone who knows what they are doing, and won't stand the neglect that some Jap bikes can. (One of the lads who used to work here changed his oil every 50,000 miles and thats not a typo error, on his Pan European!).

If you just want a cheap commuter i think there are better options than an ST4S, but if you want something for commuting, fun, touring, scratching and even the odd track day then i'd rather have one than any oriental option.
