999R AT UNIVERSAL SALVAGE

Universal Salvage have a 999R which apears to have cosmetic damage on one side (possible lowside) at what seems a very good price. Universalsalvage.co.uk, it is cat d damage and shows as no V5 document. A good basis for a superb track bike for someone?

Sounds a bit iffy? Why no V5, but they have the keys?

This bike has suffered a high-side. The left hand footpeg is bent the wrong way for a lowside, and the scuffs on the tail unit are very high up. If you look at the rear shot, it's got a bent subframe.

My guess? Nasty high side and the subframe touched the ground first. Could be quite expensive to repair.

Would be a cheap way to get the 999R motor and forks/shock into a 998 as a Frankie Chili replica though...

Now that is VERY tempting-if anyone is thinking of it Sandy is only 10 miles down the road from me. I just checked my diary and it seems I have a meeting in Sandy next Tuesday...........

I go to the car auctions in derby quite often and they get loads of cars coming in from Motorpoint. Not one of them has the V5 with it.
A possible reason in the case of this bike is that the owner didnt survive the accident so they cant find the V5? Doesnt look bad enough for that though.
Also note that this isnt an auction, you are just bidding over the internet to get a price registered for when it goes into the real auction at their Sandy site. From past experience i think you can expect the final price to be significanlty higher that the web site shows at the moment.

Never ceases to amaze me why bikes seem to get written off with such little apparent damage, looks like a lowside to me, the damage high up on the seat unit looks lik it could've just run down a kerb or a rumble strip...even so, even if the frame was all twisted just breaking it for parts should see a lot more than the current bid...

Ohlins rear shock..
Ohlins forks with radial calipers...
140 Bhp Testastretta Motor
the list goes on

I was thinking the same thing re. breaking it for parts, but you wouldn't want to pay much more than the current bid price...
