Had my 748 serviced last week(major), bike went in with no Known problems, picked it up thursday and went out last night for the 1st time, every thing spot on for 30 miles then it begins to run on one cylinder and then back to two, as soon as you slow down its back on one, any ideas?
Got to be electrical, have you checked plugs, HT leads, connections, "coils" etc, etc.
What's the age/mileage of your 748? If it isn't any of those do you hear any unusual noises? a clunking/knocking noise? do you know, can you tell if the l/h engine casing has been removed when serviced? you should be able to see new threebond (SP???) on the casing/seal etc, the reason I say this is that the alternator nut may be loose which can cause a similar problem, it should be re-torqued every 12,000 miles I believe, but the casing needs to come off to get to it.
My 748 turned into a single at the weekend. On idle or closed throttle, it went onto one. Plugs looked OK but cleaning them only made things a bit better so I renewed them, and now it seems fine.
If it's just had a major service I assume they changed the plugs though (and tightened them up OK).
The casing was removed to have the alternator nut tightened, the rear plug lead was replaced with a used one for some reason which leads me to think that it will be the cause, ive ordered one today so fingers crossed
Guys, after paying out £700 and having the bike play up within 30 miles im feeling pretty loathed to take the bike back, also the company in question suggested i ride it down to him, (more time without the bike!) and they will change the fuel potentiometer?? and i can try that!! Lets say im losing confidence fast.....(what really irks me is the fact that i paid to have injectors cleaned and £80 more in labour to solve a problem that wasnt there when i dropped the bike off,but is happening now!!)
