New chain ?

Right when i push my 998 into or out of the garage the chain clicks and clonks a bit as well , is it time for a new one its got 9500miles on it , you cant really lift the links off the sprockets much so it seams fine that way

When you wheel it backwards it really clicks/clonks a bit more

What you all think ?

this will sound daft and sarcastic but is not...

Is it clean and lubed?? lots of chain lube now just makes the chain stiff and dry (but it doesnt fling!) We see REALLY dry chains all the time and they just need a good clean and de-grease and re-oiling with something nice and slippery.

Get it on the paddock stand and check for tight spots.

.... and check the hub!!!!

only found we had a shot wheel bearing on one of our race bikes when we wheeled it back and i heard it 'clonking'.
Thank gawd it was on an early trackday this year, and not on track, as was completely 'shot'.
Hence AK always carrieds spares (and wheels)
like Wilf says - AK's fopund same probs with chains too.

Went out and checked the rear end and found the Hub nut(chain side) on finger tight

Stripped the lot down and reaet the excentric to std & gave the chain a good clean/lube and all seems fine in the world again

thanks for the suggestions
