I agree the Abba stand is a good idea, as I see it on most bikes they fit in the swinging arm spindle. On the 749-999 the swinging arm spindle has only got a very small hole in it, if the collets don't fit there where do they fit ? in the frame tubes, which is not an ideal place.
Yep, they do fit ok i must admit i was not sur at first if the amount of overlap on the nut (lh) was enough to hold it securely but it does even after rocking the bike.
I had the same thing happen, except I was more worried about the RHS. Maybe a little spacer inside the RHS cup, to stop the little ring disappearing inside... I emailed Abba.
Great stand tho, once you've worked out how to set it up. Solid as a rock.
reading the manual is an admission of defeat... it's a bloke thing ;-)
here's what abba themselves had to say:
"The 999 adapter we have not had a problem with before I understand that the adapter doesn't stick out the standard cup on the stand which makes it a little harder to see when fitting the stand to the bike but when the stand is on and nipped up in its normal mode there is no problem. "
