Harv

The good book lists the following numbers of 916SP's produced in total, not by country for the follwing years

310 in 1994
401 in 1995
497 in 1996

Thanks in advance.

The book only gives production figures upto and including 2000.

748R yellow for UK in 2000...150

Sorry nothing for later years when the red ones arrived which looks like yours in the avatar.

EUROPE
167 of the 98 model
158 of the 99 model
150 of the SPS2 99 model
575 of the 2000 model

these are in addition to the UK models, and just to confuse matters further there were also French models, which at a guess may have been restricted to 100bhp to comply with French law.....A restricted SPS hmmmmm or for racing?

FRANCE
15 of the 98 model
40 of the 99 model
30 of the 2000 model

At the risk of being corrected by someone more knowledable than me (not hard admittedly)

The sequence of top of the range, homologation specials for WSB racing was as follows, and you will see where the SP3 fits in. Tuned engines, higher spec suspension and brakes than the standard models of the respective years.

916 SP in 1994
916 SP2 in 1995
916 SP3 in 1996
916 SPS in 1997 and 1998
996 SPS in 1999 and 2000

Some people believe the year 2000 SPS with Ohlins forks was the best, whereas others, Nelly at Cornerspeed believe the SP3 is the most collectable with the most frenetic engine of the pre stretta engines.

Hope that explains things.

And Harv748 has one sitting in his garage-used to belong to my mate Cameron who now lives in Hawaii and couldn't take it with him-emissions and stuff-bloody Americans. As I am sure Harv will be only to glad to confirm the bike is an absolute animal, rides like a 916 until you get to about 7000 rpm and then it takes of like someone stuck an exocet up the exhaust, revs to 11500! and makes power all the way up there. I sold it for Cam when he moved-still regret not keeping it myself.

This is interesting........

My year 2000 996SPS is number 1500 (so it says on the little badge on the top yoke) but this would obviously refer to total production - still seems like a lot of 996SPS's though - I don't suppose the numbering would have carried on from the 916SPS ?

Hell's bell's this is going to run further than Katie Price's PR campaign.
I did see somewhere on the net someone had started a world wide register of Duke Sennas including numbers.
What do you think DSC start a register or we do the same just to see what is left after the wreckage????
