You're right, what an awesome Captains knock! You could see he was absolutely gutted when Harmison got him. More so that he didn't need to play at it.
Fair play to Clarke, Warne, Lee and McGrath at the end though. They each did their bit to save the game at crucial stages. I didn't give up on an Aus win until Warne was out to be honest, it was definitely still on the cards and you could see Punter was still thinking about it by the running between the wickets with Warne and his strokeplay. And Warne's - he's done very well!
England played very well for 3 out of the 4 days, and their bowling has been excellent all series. It's about time someone from the Aus top order stood up and made some runs, rather fitting that it was the captain. Leading by example.
Still 1-1 after 3 tests of excellent cricket. This series is exceptional. England have really stepped up and played very well and I'm very impressed with the England bowling attack.
If I was an Aussie selector I'd drop Gillespie now, he's been a fantastic player for Australia over a number of years and done the job but we can't afford to keep carrying him in a 4 man bowling attack. Especially with McGrath still recovering from his torn ankle ligaments.
I'd also be casting my eye over the batting to see if I could squeeze Andrew Symonds back in the team. He could have the impact on the series that Pietersen has had with the bat and is also a very useful bowler who can pick up some wickets and take the pressure off the main 4 bowlers.
Fantastic test match played in the right spirit, I'm buzzing now - as you might have noticed
I can't believe I have to wait 10 days until the next one starts!!!
