It was a good morning, at least. Rode up from Hemel, about 90 miles, on the M1 and arrived in time to sign on at about 7.40 am. PaulMort was there with his very well presented Bloo Duke but wasn't feeling great so didn't ride much. Mark, No Limits, was an absolute star and didn't charge him for the day. Hats off to Mark and his loyalty to regular customers.
Graeme and wife Jane with mini Graeme in the most tricked up push chair I've ever seen met me, Loz and Paul in the garage Paul had comandeered and, as the track dried out, the morning went better and better. I had a session with Dave Lawes. De-brief to the effect that all still fine, riding position fine, braking/throttle/gears fine just lost some confidence so slower. I'll get it back though, or die trying!
Unfortunately, after lunch, spitting rain became slightly heavier, and shortly thereafter a complete downpour. Some die hards, such as Mike the Mechanic, who had kindly sorted my front forks before I went out on track, carried on riding but Paul had retired after lunch and, with the help of his son Chris got his bike back onto his very natty trailer and set off home. From 4.30 it was open pit lane but we'd had enough by 4, got bikes back to road status and did the 90 miles back to mine in the filthiest weather.
On the upside, the rain has cleaned my boots for me so all the mud has gone and my new Held waterproofs were completely satisfactory.
