Class A Bike - Sell or Rent

I have been toying with the idea of having a bike to Rent out, so people can give DD a try

Not sure what I could charge and what gets covered when somebody rents the bike, crash damage is always a consideration as are the tyres,
Getting two bikes to a meeting isn't a issue, especially with the newer bigger van, but while still racing myself It may be taking on to much

Is it worth the aggro or should I just sell the spare Class A bike I have

There would be no harm in trying, but getting money out of them for crashing could be a right royal pain in the ass,
you could maybe consider a bond scheme, together with agreement of a price for replacement of each item before riding.
However as they would have to join hottrax and DSC and DD and get an ACU, it would seriously limit the no. of prospective customers to existing hottrax racers.

Good luck.

A returnable £500 deposit for damage on top of what you think is a reasonable hire and tyre wear cost should do the trick.

To stop arguments you could have a price list to cover common breakables
Handlebar £xxxx
Fairing panel £xxx
Etc
That way both sides know what the score is.

I really enjoyed being "an owner" this year even if I was not able to ride, and the chaps who borrowed the bike seemed to enjoy racing in DD.

It would be great for the series if there was a bike people could hire to give it a go.

A consideration would be the wear and tear, engines really do want a refresh after a year racing, that's only 8 rounds. I recon you'd have to charge £200 just to cover the wear and tear)

you don't want someone crashing your bike and taking 2 years to find the money to fix it either,

I think the £500 deposit is an answer, but then who would do it? it would mean that someone would have to find about £1000 up front (not including what the hire cost would be) for the weekend, even if they get £500 back it's a lot to find,,,, and then,,,,, they might not get it back.

I like the idea of a price list, maybe £100 deposit and a price list of common repairs to be added to the £100 if they bin it.
