The boys are right about getting your insurance quotes first.
Remember, that anything over £5k is likely going to cost you lots more, as you are under 21 (dont ask me, but thats the way they seem to go).
Over 500cc at 18 could also cost you for insurance too
Have you done your test yet?
Maybe Ronnie at insuremyducati.com could help out on this one?

Just an idea for you: my daughter at 17 & 7 months got an old NC21 (1987 model), 2 years no claims, garaged, non commute, and 1st year - from the cheapest quote cost her £1280!!! (this year at 20, came down to £385, still no claims or convictions....yet!)

Easy to restrict the carbed monsters - not too sure about the injected ones. That said, havent heard of any monster over 600 that has been restricted yet (least, not on the UKMOC site).

Happy researching - and good luck with whatever you get

C

Don't forget that there's also a Monster 400 - it's just that we don't get it in the UK. It might be worth trying to find an imported one, but get a quote first.

Although the bike will probably be under the figures for restricted bikes, the fact it's a grey import may up the insurance too much.

Just another option to throw in!

I wouldnt go for a monster 600/620 - far too gutless and you'll get bored of it pretty quickly, go for the 900 - it wont cost too much to insure, I was paying 1200 TPFT on a fireblade at 19, and that's group 17
