I\'m building a Baines Imola...

(more info here http://www.bainesracing.com/)

...And so have a variety of stuff off the donor bike (a 94 900SS) that I'd ideally like to get shot of.

If anyone wants any of the stuff below, make me an offer via the email link. I'm based in Rutland (between Leics and Lincs) if you want to come and have a look at any of it.

Tank (good cond. but no graphics. Doesn't come with fuel pump etc either)
Fairing (goodish condition)
Standard silencers (good condition)
Seat (OK condition, but has small damage)
Swingarm (needs some bust screws drilling out)
Rear hugger
Front mudguard (good cond)
Rear shock
Full set of footrests (black)

Cheers

Sean

Nice one Sean - progress reports and pics asap please.

Spare fairing - does it have the rear vents or not?

Cheers - Frank

dunno about vents - will have to check at weekend.

Pics not very interesting so far - just a lot of bits at the moment...

Though while I'm here, what tips do people have for smartening up a slightly tatty engine?

The barrels are painted black but a little chipped
The cases are aluminium painted, which has flaked off in places
Other bits are bare alloy, and corroded in places
The left hand cover is very clean
Lots of the fasteners are a bit manky

For the barrels Hermatite "Pot Black" works well.
For the silver crankcases, rub down any corroded bits and paint them with Carplan "Engine Lacquer" applied very thinly -best stippled with a stiff brush.
Polish up the bare alloy with wet & dry. Start with a 400 grade and work down to 1200 grade then polish with Sovol Autosol (I think that has another name now).
Replace all the engine (and frame) screws with stainless. and where ever there is a washer fitted use a stainless one. These details make all the difference.

Thanks for that Derek. Any makers of stainless screw sets to recommend?
