Hello, has anyone tried the race tec and 209gp on a 999, i only just got a 999s and would be nice to get some feed back for next years trackdays. I've been using the race tec's for a year or so and found them to be more stable and the rear last slightly longer than the old dunlop 208 gp esp when it gets hot. But the dunlops seem to offer more feel and therfore more confidence. any thoughts?
i found the 209gp was even better than the 208gp after a straight swap at jerez, changing only the tyres.
A lot less movement from the bike on the 209s! cant compare to the Metzlers........although im told Ducatis like the dunlops cos of the heavier construction..........
I've used 207GP (star), 208GP's and now 209GP's on all of my Dukes, the 209 is better than the 209, grippier than a grippy thing, and not a squirly on the brakes as the 208's, but they do cost more than the racetec's, which I have never tried as I have never felt I needed too... Andy, Butch etc all run 209's now I think???
Interesting you mention the heavier construction, in superstock on a GSXR 1000 with mez or pirell's the bike felt much better with the 2 compound than the 1 because the compound was slightly harder the tyre wall was stiffer. How do the 209 gp last on the track?
Hmmmm, only used them at Jerez, and at a push I was getting 2 days out of a set, probably 1.5 days before you could feel them moving around quiet a bit
i was getting 2- 2.5 days out of a race tec on a 600. but at jerez in 2004 on the old mez renni sport i went through 6 rears and 6 fronts in 4 days on a GSXR 1000.
