Trip up to the Highlands last week (620m from Wiltshire to there last Saturday on the 748
).
Wonderful riding country, utterly gorgeous, as I'm sure the Scots who post here well know. Stayed just outside Kyle.
But it looked like it'd gone tits up on me when my (3-phase) rectifier decided to let go mid-week, taking the battery with it.
Phone call to Ducati Glasgow (nearly 200m south), and a new battery and rectifier were couriered out to me. Arrived early the next afternoon. No carriage charge, and very reasonable prices for OE equipment, I thought (under £150 of both, incl. VAT). Holiday rescued with only a small delay.
On my way back home yesterday, I thought I'd stop off there to thank them. Was offered coffee and chocolate cake, and given a spare 40A fuse I wanted for free.
It's a pleasure to report such good service.
I'm now considering going down Shazaam's route and mounting the rectifier at the rear of the bike, although I know they have been known to fail on Monsters too, where they're mounted under the headlight, in the wind-flow.
