Knox KC2000 Back Protector

Goofy question for anyone who is interested:
The KC2000 is known generally for wearing out the inner linings of jackets, due to the abrasive material used on the padded bits. So, I have taken to wearing it back to front - i.e. so that the smooth material normally resting against your back is facing outwards into the jacket lining. This reduces the effect of friction and should mean less wear on the inside of the jacket. A secondary effect of doing this is that air is able to flow through the gaps between the pads, so your back gets less sweaty.
The question: am I mad or have I stumbled upon "a good idea"? I know which one my money's on :P
