Went to Cadwell park last night to do the evening track session.
Just pulled in to the car park and my chain snapped!! aargh! luckily it just spat itself without wrapping itself around my leg or the bike!

So now i need a replacement chain and sprocket set!
What should i get? A stm/talon/renthal quick release kit?
and should i down gear it a tooth or two while i'm at it?

From what I've heard you're fast enough to benefit from being able to change gearing quickly, I'd say go for an STM quick change carrier, much lighter and has the backing plates to stop the cush drives f*cking up your swingarm!

my choice was an AFAM quick release carrier, lovely bit of engineering, and quality sprokets at an affordable price. Better to change rear sproket size by three than drop the front by one.

Keeps the chain further from dragging on the swiniging arm plastic plate. Also ....much quicker to change.

I've got a Baines Racing one (not sure who the OEM was), but its in a trick-looking anodised dark grey, to match Renthal sprockets.

It's only been used a few times, and there are pics of it on the old site, from my racing 916.

I've also got Renthal 37T and 38T rear sprockets, plus a Regina 525 Gold Chain, sized to accommodate these. All used just a handful of times, with no wear.

Was up at Cornerspped yesterday, and Nelly has a very nice qucik change carrier. Not sure who's it is, but it seemed very cheap. Should give him a call.

Very important to make sure the cush drives don't come out and start machining the swing arm hub, as happened to me recently in France - I managed to get away with it, as I only machined a couple of mm off the hub, just about enough meat left to be able to adjust the chain. I have a Renthal carrier but it doesn't have the backing plate(s).

yeah i had chain let go on me on my gix1000 last year! (was replaced under warranty)
I was going to change my chain at 10k but will be doing it at every 6k in future!
Time for a little bit of down gearing and quick release jobby!
