Help! Slippery foot pegs.
Dear all,

I've had my first ducati for a couple of months, ride it every day to work and love it. Except that my boots sometimes slip off the pegs. Twice now it's happened when trying to get my knee down. I'm hung off the bike, getting lower, expecting that lovely scraping noise and my boot slips off the peg and hits the tarmac! Both times I've managed to stay on but it's not a pretty site. My boots are fairly worn on the sole but this didn't happen on my last bike - R6 with standard pegs. I tend to have the ball of my inside foot on the very end of the peg. Has anyone else found this happening? Any foot position tips appreciated. I do ride with my feet high and back on the pegs already, but are rear sets really worth the money? Any recommendations?

Hi Mark,

I've always had exactly the same problem on duke' footpegs.
Not sure if there's a solution - I keep my foot in the same place still, as it just feels natural.
I just try to make sure the pegs are clean and dry before any play-time action.
Am looking at the rearsets route - but if I don't do that I may carve some type of grip on the end of the pegs with my Dremel.

- I guess its just one of those things with a Ducati

Here’s what I did.

Use a Dremel and a cut-off wheel tool to cut slots into the foot pegs. Leave the edges sharp.

Nice one Topper, that made me laugh out loud, wasn't expecting it.

Excellent solution Shazaam.

I used to have this problem and it's very very scary at speed when hanging off. I've not particularly changed my riding style much, but I don't have the problem anymore. I have change boots to Sidi Vertabre Race which have a grippier sole than my previous boots.

I've just had a look at my pegs and they are very shiney and slippy, maybe some wet 'n' dry might take the sheen off.

Dear All,

Thanks for the advice, especially Topper. I'm off to Halfords now to order a Raleigh-Ducati kit. WeeJohnyB - I am a member so hopefully see you on the 24th.

Regards

Mark.
