Is it easy to fit a new chain ?

I have just bought a new chain and sprocket set as a result of my existing chain having tight spots. I have never fitted one before and I was hoping I could use a split link, but apparently these are not really used and I therefore need to rivet the chain.

Is there anyone near Blandford Dorset who has a splitter / riveter that I could borrow / hire. I was going to buy one, but it will just sit on the shelf.

Thanks

Juckky

If you've not done it before then I really would recommend you get someone who knows how to do it. Have you seen the mess a chain can make of a set of crankcases? It can wreck an engine.

You can buy chain riveters from the likes of MPS for not too much money. Should last the rest of your biking life.
