750Sport vs 800 Monster

Just did a back to back comparison of these two bikes. I own the 750 (Y-reg), the Monster (02-reg) was a loaner. There seemed to be a lot more power coming from the M - more than the 50cc could account for (in my opinion, for what that's worth). Does anyone know if there is anything else significantly different between the standard versions of these two bikes? My 750 has a 14-tooth front sprocket, but is otherwise standard.

The wind-blast on the naked Monster was a fond reminder of my early biking days (before I discovered fairings). The M's pegs seemed much happier to touch down than the 750's. Folks who ride their Monsters hard and fast have my sincere respect!
