The left hand side panel on my 748s is now really tight after coming back from its service, by tight i mean the holes for the 4 top dzus fasteners seem to have got further apart and the panel is really taught now a lot more so that before.
The frame 2 are fixed so I guess the front 2 may have moved? now it really takes a lot of force to get them in. The right side is easy to get on to any ideas?
The Dzus fasteners are all the same. I always find the LH fairing a bit more difficult to replace than the RHS, but I just put that down to the RH fairing being removed more often. You can always tweak the positions of the Dzus receptacles a bit.
You can adjust the backings, adjust by either bending them in or out (probably need a good strong pair of pliers) so that the dzus doesn't need as much force to lock.

Think NBs hit the nail on the proverbial. Try loosening off - but not removing all the screws that hold the nose cone on, fit the side panel then re-tighten the nose cone. Worked for me in the past.
There is a small clip that is designed to lock the two panels together, in my case the dealer neglected to make sure this clip was in the right place and instead proceed to reassemble. This caused the panel to bow slightly and exagerate the distance between the fastners which could be what you are describing...

Good luck with it, love the look v nice indeed
beat me to it...I often forget the lug that sits behind the fairing panel which, if not placed correctly, makes it soooo tight to get on

I'm pretty sure the tab was located behind the nose cone.
Would they of taken off the nose cone for the 6000 miles service?
When I took the panels off the front head was still all dirty and can't really see how they could check the valves and stuff without cleaning it first? have some pics will post them up soon
