Hi there, I had the same thing happen to mine!
I got it re welded and it's been ok since. Have a look on ebay if you don't want to weld, they sometimes come up on there but they're not cheap!

As Jen says they're not cheap, there were a couple on Ebay last time I looked, one belonged to Jim at Bike Enders in Romford who is always worth a call. Tel 01708 455530

Midge,

This is a known issue on the MY2000 748R. My dealer has advised that if it ever happens to my subframe then it will be replaced FOC by Ducati. MY01 & 02 had a slight revision to the subframe to eliminate the problem.

My advice is take it up with your dealer or with DUK direct.

Hope that helps,

Neil

Hi Midge,
I too had this problem with my 2000 M.Y 748R - As already stated above this is not uncommon.
Mine was replaced F.O.C by Ducati even though my bike was out of warranty at the time.
The later subframes have additional bracing at the relevant points.
Regards,
