Techi slipper clutch question

Can anyone explain to me why the pressure plate on my slipper clutch has had the teeth that match the inner drum machined off, and why the depth of the spring recesess are 25mm deep as apposed to the origonal at 15mm deep.
Keep it simple please.
Thanks Kev
