I don't normally get wrapped up in tyre chat, so probably miss all the hot news on whats what in rubber.
Anyway, had some Pirelli diablo's put on my sps last year, what a massive improvement they made to the bike.
They really inspire so much confidence in a bikes ability.
Having upgraded recently again to a 91 851, I have not been too impressed by it's overall handling, moreso in the bends.
overall performance is great from the bike, but it all falls apart first sign of a bend in the road.
Tried changing sus setting and ride height etc, no real improvment.
Lots of other peeps seem to have a better setup .
Bit the bullet again this afternoon, had some diablo's stuck on, with the correct 120/70 on the front.
What can I say, awesome.
A totally changed bike, even taking it a bit easy trying to scrub them in quickly, bike just turns in like magic.
I can crank it over so easily now, with a renewed confidence I've not had in a bike since the SPS last year.
If I was asked now, does the 851 handle and could I recommend one to a potential buyer.
Answer would have to be , YES,YES,& more yes.
851's like to be ridden hard and fast, none of this doddling about malarchy.
with decent rubber they can be
Diablo's have had some bad press previously, they seem to be top kit to me.
I would have no probs recommending these tyres at all.
Looking forward to rockers to get some serious rubber down.
Just my thought and experiance, but if you have not tried one , you will never know.
have a good night all
