Fuel tank breather

I took the fuel tank breather pipe off today to clean it, without making a note of which way round the vent goes (Doh). It seems to act as a non return valve, so I guess this is important!

I am guessing it should be aligned to allow air into the tank, or should it allow vapour to vent out?

The possible implication of getting it wrong is a collapsed tank (ouch!)

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks Frank,

Seems like my intuition was correct, but it is comforting to have it verified.

Cheers
Crash.
