600SS Base Gaskets-- which to use ???

I need some advice guys and gals

my 600SS Desmo Due racer needs some new base gaskets.
Although it had alloy ones fitted when I got it I understand steel ones are also available.
I was also wondering if they come in different thicknesses as the higher the compression on my 583cc engine the better providing I can maintain a suitable squish value.

Thanks in advance
Kev

Kev,
All the base gaskets are now steel. They are available in different thicknesses to but the only true why you'll find which ones are correct is to measure the squish and valve clearances beforehand.

Thanks Nelly
I have just been to Brancatto engineering and got a couple of alloy ones (he has quite a few and knowing Tony he probably makes his own) along with some circlips.

I can now reassemble my engine using some soft solder placed on top of the piston so that I can gauge my clearances so I can work out what thickness of base gasket I need to run.
