Couple of 996 questions
What year did they come out & did they ever have 3 spoke wheels/gold frames? Saw one today but it didnt look right. I though they all had Marchesinis

I bought a 2000 model and was told by the dealer that was the first of the 996 models with the 5 spoke marchesini wheels and grey frame. I think the 1999 model 996 still came with 3 spoke brembo wheels and gold frame.

Pre 2000 constructed bikes had the gold frame and three spoke Brembo gold wheels.

Moved to Titanium/Grey frame and 5 spoke Marchesinis for the 2000 update.

Is it just me or does anyone else get the feeling that some Ducatis are built with whatever bits they have left over at the time?

I had a yellow '99 996 Biposto, from new.

It had a gold frame and gold three-spoke Brembo wheels (but without "Ducati Racing" cast into the hub of the rear, as with the earlier bikes.

It was an offical UK bike.
