Question Engine Misfire 6 -7000 RPM

HI guys - I wonder if anyone can help - I dropped my 1991 900ss at the Mallory hairpin on a track day after getting a bit over enthusiastic. Not much damage was done apart from snapping off the breaklever. When I went out for the next session - the bike had a misfire between 6-7000 rpm - but after a few laps it ran OK .
I thought I might of stirred up some debris in the tank and it cleared itself?

But having just gone out again today - its doing the same thing. It feels like it starts to run out of steam at 6000 and then mis-fires until 7000 when it clears its throat and runs OK - strange!

Any ideas?

Tim

Hope you were OK Tim !

Sounds a bit intermittent?

I'd include your original comment of debris (or possibly water) in the tank along with:

Trapped / faulty Tank vent.
Trapped Fuel line.
Fuel filter.
Worn carb components - needle / emulsion tubes etc.

But why this problem should only start after dropping the bike is a bit strange - I take it you checked throughly for any other damage - throttle, cables etc?

Sorry - its about all I can think of at the mo.

Good luck - Frank

Hi Frank - only my pride was damaged thanks! Its actually captured on film by the track photographer - classic loss of the front end I'm afraid - I registered nil points on the style scale - but 9.5 on the time to get the bike up again!
I'll have a look at all the thngs you've menyioned though. -thanks.

Also thanks to Ziggi - I'l check that too.

cheers

Tim
