Chris I'm assuming they're the standard Ducati ones, as DZUS fasteners can come in slightly different lengths.

What I have done in the past though is get a good set of hefty pliers and squash the backplate to try and reduce the gap slightly, takes some elbow grease but does work

Fitted the fasteners myself the other weekend and had the same problem.

Solution was the exact same as jp, ie reduced the gap from the catch plate to the fairing with pliers. After that they fastened just fine.

I have two sets, one the genuine article and one cheap copy.

the cheapo ones are fine for the easy to get your hand behind places, but on belly pan etc I have to use the good ones as they catch much better.

Alternative is the pliers
