Running on one cylinder problem solved

You may remember that my 999S let me down on the way up to Cadwell and lapsed onto one cylinder. I tried replacing the coil & plug but that didn't fix it. Well, just got off the phone to ProTwins who have been looking into the problem.

The good news is that they've fixed it. The bad news is that it was the ECU. That's 700 notes, thank you very much. And before you ask, no, it isn't in warrantee.

Naturally, I'm not particularly happy about this. Although the bike was registered in early 03, it is essentially only a year old as I bought it May last year with 48 miles on the clock.

Has anyone had any dealings with Ducati over out of warrantee replacements?

Cheers Mutters. How are the new tyres scrubbing in?

At the moment it looks like I'll be hiring a van for the weekend so I'll pick it up in that... or I'll be leaving it there until we sort out the cost...

Rally,

You could try contacting Martin Willis at Blue Streak Europe Ltd. They're an ECU remanufacturer. I remember seeing a thread about them (see below) a while back.

it should also be pointed out that an ECU is approx £450 (plus vat) so you appear to have been charged over £200 labour to replace it , that seems a bit OTT to me

I would estimate I could replace an ECU in somwhere between 1-2 hours tops
