I spent most of the afternoon flicking between the rugby and the Carling Cup and I missed out on seeing what happened with the England disallowed try in the first half. They were saying it was because the winger (not sure who was on that wing - Cueto?) was in front of Barkley when he kicked for the corner but the angles I saw looked like it was a fair try? There were no decent TV angles ...
Yes, it was a Cueto try that was disallowed for offside off Charlie Hodgson's kick to the corner, and although the TV angles weren't perfect it looked like a try to me as well. I don't know what the touch judge thought he was at, cos he wasn't even looking at Cueto as he started his run.
Have to agree with Brian Moore as well, when Josh Lewsey went over it was either a try or he was held up, either way the refereeing decsion was pretty poor.
Agree with Andy B though, there were individual players that had a reasonable game. Martin Corry was solid, Lewsey was good and I thought Ollie Barkley and Jamie Noon punched a few holes throught the defence, but there is no natural leader to pull it all together.
It's starting to seem like a long time since you could feel sure that the forwards would be totally dominant.
Fair play to Ireland though, they looked the better team throughout the first 60 minutes and deserved it
I have always questioned A robinsons' ability as the coach. I think England lack direction, leadership and the ability to build a win, something the Irish did!
Yes there were some howling decisions but you recognise them and play them to your advantage.
Ahh, it was a Hodgson kick. The touchy was right there but I didn't see the touchy raise his flag at all.
I've heard on the BBC rugby message boards that the ref had ruled that the ball had been pushed back infield and therefore was an Irish scrum. Looked a bit iffy to me, maybe he should have gone upstairs ...
The only other iffy thing I saw (I was flicking remember, before someone jumps down my throat, not you Jools) was the Corry try. O'Gara was tackled and brought to the ground illegally so it should have been a penalty there and then, not a try.
I still think AR is not quite there tactically. If you remember the Australia game at the end of last year the mauls were killing us and it was identified before the game as a weakness but we only saw it played in the second half after Aus were ahead. Bad decision and I think that cost England the game.
I saw a great kick take and return from Lewsey! He's a great player.

Fair play to you mate. There were howling decisions both ways though don't forget ...
Your getting confused mate........there were actually two tries that could of been,............One for Cueto, a cross kick jobbie ruled that he was in front, and another that was the push over, which what ever way you look at the referees decision didnt make sense.
He never went to the video ref for either. still...........
No Andy, not confused. As I said, howling decisions both ways. The Cueto try, the decision not to go upstairs on the Lewsey try and the Corry try when O'Gara was illegally tackled behind the ruck and brought to the floor. That was a penalty to Ireland and should never have been a Corry try.
