Tend to agree-carbon doesn't go anywhere that gets stressed up and where a failure could be catastrophic-at least not on my bikes it doesn't.
I copied this from the two-strokes forum about carbon handlebars-
"Carbon bars are very strong, the only problem with them is the same problem you get with carbon mountain bike bars.
If the bike is dropped, you should change the bar whether it breaks or not. A big hit sets up microscopic flaws in the carbon. You will only know if they are ok the next time you brake hard over the bumps. It will either snap or it wont.

Its as simple a gamble as that."

Having had my bar clamps snap-twice-on my 996 I wouldn't risk it personally-not nice!
