Anyone tried one ?? i fitted one from a 999 and with a bit of fidling it fits well and is far more substantial sadly it doesnt quite go through the hole in the fairing and a bit if chopping would be in order.
I wish someone would actually make a stand that doesnt look like a twig about to snap for the 916
I've got to agree with Paul, there was someone on here some years back who left his bike on the stand over night came back to it next morning and the stand had broke and the bike was on its side, always stick mine on the paddock stand at the end of the day. Always makes me wince when they pull it up on its stand on the MOT.
guess who had his 916 mot'd this weekend ?? and yes i was worried, seems to lean a bit more now too what concerns me more is the fact it will be strapped down on a ferry soon. i think if someone made a substantial replacement stand for them that followed the original shape and about 5 - 10 mm longer , they would sell like hot cakes
I think the stock stand is adequate, but at high mileages they do wear. A surprisingly small amount of wear on the foot of the stand can equal a considerable increase in bike tilting angle!
Mine was starting to get a bit iffy, but a second-hand stand off ebay for 15-20 quid, and it's as good as gold now.
You might want to look at the cycle cat web site, they do billet sidestands (for Monsters etc..) that you can order in different lengths according to how much rear ride height you've got.
I've got a lot of ride height on the back of my ST and it makes the sidestand too short, leans over summat alarming, since the ST and monster are closely related I thought about getting one.
