Congratulations on the new bike Screwy, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
My SS had had the sidestand broken off and the repair made in the way you describe before I got it. I have heard of this repair being done elsewhere but I don't think it is very common. I can take a pic of it for you if you need to see how it goes together.

Thanks Derek , its all sorted now and seems fine



I might just skim a couple of millimetre of the back of the stand casting though as the stand is a tad close to the gearchange lever though it does'nt seem to catch when changing gear .

Btw ignore the 944 decals they will be going sometime in the future as the previous owner assure's me its a standard engine , just ashame there laquered over
