As always, use your best judgement, but in my experience heavily knurled pegs give you much better feel, especially in the wet and when hanging off.

No have not tried in the wet...thats why im taking your advice and getting the file out, even if i make a few cuts into them its gonna help i guess.

PVA with sand sprinkled on top, that should give plenty of grip. Sharp sand that is.
