Is the oil coming from the filter seal or from the engine casings and ending up round the filter ?

If you can't easily spot the source of the leak, try dusting the casings with a bit of talc.

This absorbs the oil, preventing it from running all over, and should make it that bit easier to spot the leak

Could also be cutch fluid or in my case it turned out to be chain lube!

Don’t get to worried yet It’s just that being right at the bottom anything can end up there.
If the oil is coming from the filter seal and the filter is not loose,
Try draining the oil out, clean and check the filter seal and the seat were it seals to the engine
If all looks ok then re fit the filter you have with just a light film of oil on the seal.
Could just be some c**p on the seal from when it was fitted or a dodgy filter seal
hope this helps

If the bike has been stood a while when you have started it up the oil filter will leak as the seal around the filter will have gone dry.

Best thing is do an oil and filter change and check it when you put the filter on. and oil the seal on the new filter with old engine oil then do the filter up hand tight only. Should be ok after that but do a good cheak when the filter is out but i cant see it being a big thing
