A Cycle World test of the 916 gave a measured top speed of 157mph and a corrected rear wheel horsepower of 104hp @9,000 rpm.

For what it's worth I saw an indicated 170 mph at a little under 10,000 rpm on my 996SPS.

"Assuming" it would have pulled 11,000 in top that would equate to an indicated top speed of around 190 mph, probably no more than 170-175 mph in truth.

This on c. 120-125 rwhp (and standard gearing).

its might be worth something
but not really useful beancounter as its neither the same engine as 916 or std 996.

Have you had your SPS modded as my standard 2000 model hit the rev limiter at 10,500 rpm?

My 916 made 103 at the rear with 22000 miles on it, and if it was capable of over 140 i would be shocked, it just doesnt feel happy after 130 and no point thrashing it to death as its a bit old now. funnily enough my old NC30 will happily see over 140 with only 66 at the rear, and the RGV SP will easily see 130+ and rev out to the limiter, but being a stroker its not something i care to try to often.
My 916 does have a couple of extra teeth on the rear and is rapid low down with good strong grunt, but not really a top end machine. it goes well enough for me
