My bike is an '02 998 Biposto With the stock ECU it revs to 10,000. With an ECU that came with a set of 45mm open Carbon Termis is revs to 11,200(ish). I've just fitted the DP 998S upgrade kit of cams/pipes/996R ECU, and now the rev limiter cuts in at 10,500.
I wondered if this is correct, and if it can be changed?
I would be wary of aiming for a too high a rev limt on a standard 998...all be it with cams/pipes and ecu. The stress being placed on the other vital components will be immense.
My 916SP has a limit of 11500, but then its been designed for that with titanium con rods, cams, bigger vavles, higher compression etc. etc.

Have you read the ammendment to my post where the handbook qoutes 2 different limits on 2 different pages! Maybe yours is set to page 72 instead of page 96
I'll have to pay more attention when its starts banging and farting at what revs its actually doing
I understand what you are saying about the wear and tear from high revs Harv, I've got no intentions of spending much time at those revs, but the rev out is nice at the track sometimes (long left-handers). The 45mm carbon can kit came with an 11K rpm rev-limiter, so I figured it would be OK.
Ta BDG - maybe I'll call JHP and ask them how much to re-set my page numbers.
Just to be helpful i checked out the rev limiter on 996R this afternoon, it is definately 11,000rpm.
However a thought occurs the 996R comes wiv 2 ECU's as standard, one for the road legal pipes and one for the horrible noisy Termi thingies, which one do you have?
There may be the remote chance that the one for the legal cans has a lower rev limiter, but thats really an uneducated guess.
