749 Starting Problems

I've been told this morning about the 2003 749 having starting problems and also that the cutting out problem never really gets sorted, is this just dealer talk to get me to buy 04 model or is there truth to the story?

Ta aver so.

J

Just been looking through previous threads on this and the general consensus is that if your dealer knows what they are doing then the can correct it by making some adjustments. The details of those adjustments are on those threads.

Dont buy from him, if hes disputing the fact that an '04 bike doesnt stall, just read the threads in the forum, nearly every single one does upto about 1000 miles or after you get the first service done at 630 ish.
Ive got an 04 and it stalls like **** up until the first service. If he doesnt know how to fix it, and you buy one from him, its gonna run like that till you take it somewhere that does.
Whereabouts are you based, is there not another dealer nearby?

I'm in London, I was going to buy a BP model from Aylesbury, but I have decided against it as they are complete tossers, I have had further chats with them and they change their stories about the origin of their stock all the time. London South or Central don't have anything I want at the mo, so am seeing a rather tidy sounding one privately tomorrow afternoon, so hopefully it's a winner. This does mean however those Termis you were keen on won't be available from any longer unless I have a haemorrhage and buy from Aylesbury!

Jay my friend.....

You'll find most 4-valave Dukes have been the same in recent times. Until they have their first (600mile) service they cut out at some quite unexpected times. As has been stated already, the first service usually cures it, never to reappear (until you fit that lightweight flywheel).
