I've got a 996 seat on my 97 748 bip, so I don't see why not on a 98.

The usual selection of different bracketry required though (Plate and spacers if you're swapping the other bits over.) I bought all the brackets needed from JHP for under £20.

Yes mogwai no problem most the bits form your existing seat should fit ok, rear light, seat hinge, and the locking plate. You will have to make up/ buy some spacers to go under the lock plate, then with a little trial and error in seting the lock and geting it to work. and you will need a single seatpad as the bip one won't fit. ( Or buy a complete single with everything fitted lot of dosh !!!)
any probs u2u me.
