I currently have a 748E 2001 model and I have been contemplating fitting a set of 45mm termignoni’s.

Will I need to change the ECU chip or will the standard fit chip still do the job, I’m a bit wary of messing around with the ECU, the last thing I want to do is screw the standard chip/housing and end up with expensive bill to sort it all out and/or a bike that runs like a Russian tractor.

The price of second hand termis seems quite good at the moment but with the addition of a new chip/second ECU and set-up costs it may well be a none runner.

I'm sure many of you have fitted them (mechanically a straight forward job) and changed ECU chips, so any info would be very helpful

Apart from the obvious pipe diameter whats the main difference between 45mm and 50mm pipes from a performance and suitablilty point of view?

Fitting is easy, be aware that the 748E and the 748S have different headers.

Although you say you want 45mm termis be aware of the above as 50mm will not fit standard 748E headers.

Fitted 45mm termis to my 748s and later changed the chip to a JHP one. The chip smoothed things out and didn't take much more than a few minutes to fit. Just be careful to earth yourself first before handling the ECU and make sure you don't bend the new chip pins over as they can be a bit fiddly.

So its just old chip out new chip in and off you go, nothing else?

yep but make sure you get all the pins in correctly, use a torch to check their all in correctly before starting her up. trust me on that 1 !!!

I have the original ECU for the 748 with 45mm termignonis. I 'm using the cans on my 916, so i don't need it...

I'm living in Romania so i don't know how can we make the deal... but if you have an idea, please advise

I changed my standard pipes for 45mm Termi's on my 748S. Didn't change the chip, runs sweet as a nut. 2 years later, no probs and sounds awesome.

My 2000 748bp has 45mm termis and i checked the chip this weekend and it says casoli moto 748sps on it no idea if its the correct one but it runs ok tho......

Same with my 2000 748E, 45mm with a Casoli 748 SPS chip and has run fine. (hopefully not famous last words!).

JHP ECU chips are about £30 if my memory serves me (which it usually doesn't)
