Eeprom question

I'm planning on refitting my 50mm cans today, but I can't remember which way round the eeprom goes in. It's not marked to indicate which way round it is- does it matter? My own fault- I never marked it when i took it out

Mood: Waiting for the warmer weather.
I'm not able to tell you at the moment which way around it goes as I am at work BUT the orientation is important and so don't guess. Hopefully someone will be along with more info.

my bike is also at home but ive got the manual on my laptop and it states that the notch in the chip should line up with the corresponding notch on the mount in the CPU. dont remember seeing anything on the cpu myself but thats what the manual says. (both types of ECU)

I think the notch is on the EPROM carrier that the chip body sit's in.

The bottom of the standard EPROM has a cut-out / notch by the numbers on this example, but most EPROMS are the same:
