Frank I was thinking of the Coffin tank RD200 but judging by the size of the alternator case in the pics of a earlier 1976 RD200 I woulkd say it used the same electric start system http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100922

The LC I road earlier had just been sold by one of the members of the LC Club and it was another member of the LC club that let me have a go on it and a soon to be LC Club member and LC racer who picked up my TZR while dropping off yet another LC that had just been sold.

My bro had a 500 in Marlboro colours, I think RZ and RD both had alloy frames? Just RZ was Jap version?

When my first RD350LC YPVS became sick about 1988, I took it to Stan Stephens. They did an excellent job stripping it down, the more they took it apart the more problems they found. The crank needed welding or repairing and loads of other work was needed, pistons etc, it cost me £600 back then, bloody arm & leg!!

It felt like I was riding a different bike on my way home, it ought to for that kind of money. Stan Stephens.......... Very good, but not the cheapest place for repairs.

I had a RD500 LC for a couple of weeks in 1989. It definitely had a steel frame which was bent to buggery lol. The huge dent in the back of the tank where some poor guys balls had been should of give me a clue to look further.

When i sold the bike a guy came and took it for a test ride. He soon came back saying it was slower than his 350 and wouldn't be buying it. A plug change later and full health was restored. The guy returned and in no way beleived me that it was now restored to its full glory.

To this day i can still here the sound of it crack off as it entered its power band as the guy wrenched the throttle. I think he shat himself! The silence as the wheelie landed and the look and colour on the guys face on his immediate return explained how the tank got dinted in the first place. He payed there and then but it was is brother who fetched it the following day. I think he wizzed himself laughing when i told him the true turn of events.

B40 HRA was the reg no. I wonder where it is now
