Camping at Donnington

Pardon me for risking sounding like a mamby-pamby....but does anyone know what time the 'planes start / stop flying into and out of East Midlands Airport?????????????

I was almost certainly going to camp on Friday night, but
f-o-rrrr-g-iiii-v-e m-eee for saying so...but I don't fancy having to wake up every 45 seconds until two in-the-morning, and then wake up again at four, when flights re-commence!!!!!!!

You're not far out on 2am - 4am dude. It was a nightmare on Monday night!!

I thought it was midnight - 6am, but they could well fly all night.

...and it's LOUD!!!!

More than 50,000 aircraft operations are undertaken to or from Nottingham East Midlands Airport each year, carrying in excess of 3,000,000 passengers and 200,000 tonnes of freight, 365 days a year and 24 hours a day. An operation of this size and scale has the potential to disturb people and in recent years we have been working hard to ensure that the noise impact of these operations is minimised, particularly when operations are undertaken at night.

Half the problem is that they're only a couple of hundred feet off the ground when the go over the circuit! They were so low that the strobes underneath the planes were lighting up the tent!

And yes, they were bloody noisy and flew all night long.

I would recommend camping as far away from the circuit itself as possible - or just do a B&B.

The aircraft noise will be the least of your worries when trying to sleep

Can't say I have noticed when I've stayed in the van in the paddock.

Ignorance is bliss as they say

Could you repeat that I didn't hear you Dom
It's worth taking Tim's advice and using earplugs.
Also the old van had a layer of loft insulation on the inside of the roof covered by hardbord and then finished with a thin carpet layer Good insulation against the cold and noise.
