I'm sure the dropping of the charge for motorcycles on the Dartford crossing was because of the time taken thing. They learn it could be a problem when Superbikes got really big-123,000 people at brands, most of them on bikes, and probably 40% of them coming over the crossing. Thats 49,200 bikers all turning off their engines, taking off their gloves, opening jacket to get wallet out-the traffic jams were legendary. They now let bikes through for free, but they still haven't got it right as they make each bike stop and wait for the barrier-singly. In France bikes are free on the autoroutes during major biking events and they just cone off a lane at the toll booths for bikes only-sorted. John |
