Stupid question????
Having recently bought a 95 916sp I am a little confused over the use of the site glass on the left hand side of the bike (not the oil reservoir). There appears to be no fluids in this, is this normal and if so for what use is it?

Thanks for the reply but a little more info would be of use. Especially as I have very little technical ability.

Do I need to look through the round window or can I leave that to the guys at the service.

If I do need to look through them what am I looking for ( any references to Bungle, George or Zippy will not be welcome!!)

Cheers

Wasn't 'looking through the round window' from Playschool and not Rainbow?

Anyway, no need to check it. Just leave it to the service guy's

You should be able to see oil splashing around in there when the engine is running. If you can see oil when the engine is off then you have a problem!

With the bike upright say on a paddock stand, the oil level should be visible through the window. I was always told as long as the oil reached at least half way up the window, there was enough of the slippy stuff inside the engine!

Wrong Yeti, there shouldnt be any oil visible on the sight glass on the left hand side of the bike unless the motor is running. The oil level one is on the right hand side of the engine.

Paul.
