Helmet and ACU.

Hi all,

My helmet coming from France, it hasn't got any ACU stamp. But it has a label inside with "E2" and "ECE 22-05". Does anyone know if it will suit the ACU rules? I think the model is SHARK RSF2 Prisma.

Does that help ?

Yep, it helps
I should have missed it in the ACU handbook, thanks for this.

I don't mean to be negative tonio but the way i read the rules suggests that YOUR fmn (unless you're racing on a french race license) is the ACU, therefor you'll need a ACU gold sticker.

I think a phone call to ACU House would be a good idea.

You can take your helmet and get it inspected by a suitably quallified ACU inspector and providing it meets the correct criteria they should be able to give it a Gold badge. The service is designed to deal with helmets that racers have had custom painted. I understand they do it at the ACU headquarters but not sure where else.

As Nick says give them a call

Depends on the scrutineer too.

I was in the queue to get a bike done today, and the guy in front didn't have a ACU sticker... the scrute just said "don't let me see it again" and let him off.
Didn't see what was in the brown envelope tho!

I will call them today. Hope not to have to buy a new one, because I don't have any money left since my birthday surprise:
On Saturday I got back my bike from a Ducati garage for services (cambelt, etc... including 2 Diablo for £170 including the discount because I am a poor guy ) and the bill was over £460. At the beginning I went to see him to find some sponsor, because the money was missing.................... So my budget is dead and and it's not the moment to buy a new helmet.

Both Arai and Shoei will inspect and add the gold ACU stickers to their helmets if purchased outside the UK and returned to the UK distributor. Its a flat cost of a £10 note (or was a year or so ago).

So I would think other manufacturers would do the same.

Other option is to buy a gold sticker off fleabay and stick it on yourself.

Send it to ACC house at rugby..they charge 15 quid to check it over and give a gold sticker and send it back next day delivery...
They did mine last week.

Thanks all for your help. I just called the ACU. I can't take part to races without the gold stamp, but she gave me the name and the phone number of a guy who is a "Helmet checker" (???) near where I live. So I will contact him and try to get my lid certified before trying something else.
