Mallory Test

Just been testing at Mallory Park, good conditions although very cold so left the slicks in the van and ran 208GP's.

Haven't had much time on the bike (i.e rode it twice last year, one of which ended in the kitty litter at Rocky!) so really needed the opportunity to get a few laps in before racing there this Sunday.

Felt a bit rusty but eventually got somewhere like and ran 58 second laps, there's room for improvement there as I have been round quicker on my 748!

Need to make some changes to gearing etc. as I was running out of revs in top as I came under the bridge on the start finish straight and I was in sixth in the run up to Edwinas (running 14, 42 with Close ratio box).

Hope to have it sorted in time for Sunday and hoping it's going to be dry!

Anyway if any of you are there come and find us - Red 996 SPS No. 172.

Question - How did the 208's cope in the cold weather? Obviously OK from the times etc

Sounds like a good start Garry, a change of gearing, fit the slicks add a good few degrees of warmth and probably knocking on the door of the 55sec laps.

JPM, 208's worked well enough in the cold although they did tear up quite a bit, but a bit more pressure would have helped (I run 29 rear, 31 front measured from cold) in this respect. Personally, I favour Dunlops for their feedback and they turn quicker than most which helps on the Duc.

Thanks for all the comments and good luck messages.
