help timing marks

when you get the horizontal cylinder on tdc the timing marks all line up on both cyclinders.but one i move 270 to get the v cylinder on tdc off course the marks dont line up.now if i am going to take the v head off should i get it on tdc not when the horizontal is at tdc. surely it would be better if each cylinder was marked up so the timing marks aligned when they are on tdc. sorry for my misunderstanding. i am just on with doing the shims ,and may be it would be easier to take the heads off. as the closing shims need adjusting. thanks if someone can explain why they are marked up this way and do i get each cylinder on the correct stroke at tdc to take the heads off. off course i well take one head off at time
