Stoner to Camel Honda? My thoughts... Well the rumour was he was going to Yamaha, and I think Yamaha have dropped a bo\\ock here. They need someone young to groom into a world champ, and they currently have no-one. They lost Melandri to Gresini Honda and now they've lost Toni Elias to the same team. Nicky Hayden slipped through their fingers and now Casey has too. Honda will have Pedrosa in the Respol squad, plus the above "young guns". Those ex-250 guys are easily the most promising newcomers around. Why haven't Yamaha snapped someone up? Much as I like Edwards, he isn't going to be MotoGP champion and Rossi won't be around forever. Why didn't Yamaha secure Stoner? I'd be thinking about making a move on Jorge Lorenzo, Thomas Luthi or Andrea Doviziozo early next year if they're looking good, ready for the new 800cc MotoGP in 2007. And Casey, if he goes to Honda, is always going to be the Pedrosa backup in case he doesn't cut it in the premier class. Would it not have been better for him to do what Vermuelen has done and be the top rider involved directly in bike development than play second fiddle to Pedrosa? |
